How to File a VA Disability Claim

A step-by-step look at what goes into a VA disability claim, and where we can help along the way.

The process

EDSIN / SVC-02
  1. Find out if you are eligible for VA disability compensation. If you were hurt or exposed to danger while in service and have documentation to prove it, you're on the right track.
  2. Make sure you have your military service medical records, or a copy. It's essential to have medical documentation that can connect a disability to your service record.
  3. If you don't have your medical records, there's a way to request them — we'll help you through that process.
  4. Gather all medical documentation and records that connect your disability to your military service. This includes private doctors' diagnoses or visits.
  5. Supporting statements from fellow service members, family members, and others can help identify a condition and how it got worse.
  6. Once you're clear on all the documentation required, we can help you gather everything and file a VA Form 21-526EZ.
Every case is unique, and we'll treat each one that way. As a retired Command Sergeant Major, I have the experience to help you file your claim and get your earned benefits.
